Free five minutes personality test

Updated on August 6, 2012

We all get stuck at some point when asked to describe ourselves. Its not that we don't know . Its only that we never analyzed this well enough to say the right words . I went through a simple personality test as a part of my curriculum in college . It helped me understand myself better . I'll share it with you here . This hardly takes five minutes . All we need to do is follow the directions and answer honestly .

The test is a part of the well know DISC theory formulated my Dr. William Martson who is believed to have a major hand in the development of the lie detector . DISC theory helps in understanding the behavioral styles and behavioral preferences of an individual .

DISC is the abbreviation of Dominance Influence Steadiness and Compliance . All of us are a combination of all these traits , but one or more of these may be predominant .

Follow the steps bellow to find out if you are dominative , an influencer , steady , or compliant.

This self - analysis will help you to know what is your predominant disc characteristic both at work / college and at home .

After you finish the test and find out your predominant DISC profile , you can go through the info that describes each DISC profile in detail to know yourself better , at the end of this article .

Follow the steps as soon as you read the instructions . Do not read the whole article . You will not be able to finish the test correctly if so done .

Step 1 :  Copy the following image to your desktop .

You can see that the table has four columns with 48 adjectives that describe a person .

Step 2 : Open the image in paint , if you are in Windows or its equivalent , if you are in Linux . Mark the word that describes you at work in orange using brush tool . Similarly , mark the word that describes you at home in black color . You can leave the words that don't describe you in either of the instances .

Check the example below . This was the result when I took the test .

Step 3 : Now , for each column , count the number of orange dots and black dots . Sum up both numbers and Write it down on a piece of paper or type it in notepad.

I have done the same for the above shown example .

Col 1 --  orange =  8               Col 2 --  orange = 5

              black    =  6                             black   = 6

              sum      = 14                            sum    = 11

Col 3 --  orange = 7               Col 4 --  orange = 3

              black    = 7                             black   = 4

              sum     = 14                              sum  = 7

Your Result

The score of the first column represents your dominance level.

The score of the second column represents the level of your ability to influence .

The score of the third column represents the level of your steadiness.

The score of the fourth column represents the level of your compliance .

For instance , I scored 14 each in column 1 and in column 2 . This means I'm predominantly steady and dominative .

You can also compare your DISC profile at home and at work , by comparing the score assigned to orange and black dots .

Like in the above example , I'm more complaint at home than at work .

Below are the descriptors of each DISC profile .
